Our love for coffee..

A very big hai to everyone who are following my blog posts.

For the past few days we are running around the word hyperemesis gravidarum and on our travel to Germany. Today let’s have some good old memories of my childhood days in Irenipuram. Whenever we pay a visit to Irenipuram, we just ask our Grandma (ammachi), ” Can we have a cup of your famous filter coffee?”. Yes, we are a big fan of her style of Kumbakonam filter coffee. So whenever my grandma asked “what do you want?”, we just ask for her filter coffee. And still now the famous coffee maker of hers is a treasure of our kitchen.

Whenever we hear coffee it brings smile on our face and the same happened when we had a visit to Munnar, so our artificial eyes captured what we saw, thus we had a memory snap of coffee plantation….

Lets travel along with the love for coffee….., Yes, there are so many memories for us  revolving around coffee…. During our first air travel we had the transit in Doha and being coffee lover, somehow found the biggest cup and had a big cup full of coffee from the hotel till flight take off…..and thats when we understood we shouldn’t feed babies with fluids during takeoff and landing…..and found a technique teether.  When we had our first visit to Metzingen, I came across different coffee collection from Tchibo. Since my grandma was a big fan of coffee I decided to present her with different flavours of coffee from Germany. Though I had the Skype call till last hour before her death and my parents hid that from me. Since I will ask my parents to delay, the last procedures till my return. Since Iniya was two months old, it’s hard for our travel to India. On the day of her funeral mass we were in Metzingen and I bought a pair of instant coffee bottle from Tchibo……and it reached India flying without knowing that the receiver is no more.

And I packed them to India through his parents who were returning on new year eve.

God’s unlimited surprise for our kitchen!

A very big hai to everyone who are following my blog posts. Today let’s see how God provided me whatever we needed in kitchen. For those who travel miles on air are familiar with the restrictions on check-ins. Since it was our second travel after marriage we ought to parcel everything from spoon.

We had certain purchase from Vasanth and co. The day on which I came to know the value of regular customer. They suggested a pressure cooker for hot plate, certain nonstick cookware and ultra mixer for abroad. The products are of high quality and and it took a year for the products to become common. By the way soon I replaced all nonstick cookware since it didn’t suited hot plate because of the base. Though I havnt cooked alone, I knew the way my mom had her kitchen arrangements. So I collected those stuffs which ought to be in kitchen instead of whatever I like to be in kitchen. Hope you all know, we South Indians need a grinder for our breakfast.  When we started our hunt, my friend suggested a model from Vidiem, and to our surprise it was 7kg, which was 3 kg lesser than normal models. This helped us to carry something more for our stay in Tübingen. The only thing, I missed was something similar to the dosa maker in the video.

Yes, the iron tawa from my grandma. The history of tawa goes to Kumbakonam where my grandpa served as Sub Judge in early 80s. With limited stuff, we reached Tübingen, to my surprise a person stuffed everything in our home, since they were shifting to USA. To my shock she placed an iron tawa for dosa. We had the kitchen ingredients for our whole family (6 people when iniya was born). It was my biggest job to arrange all those stuffs. The task was to arrange everything in 40sqm room while I was born and brought up in 2500sqm home excluding the garden area. In short the living room in Germany was equivalent to our home’s hall, while the other two rooms can hold only a double cot.

My very first task was to separate kitchen stuff based  on certain category and it should be easy for my in laws when they visit us in winter.

We had the shelves as in pic and we ought to stuff everything within this shelves. Since its limited space I planned to have small bottles for regular use of Masala and the stock goes to the cupboard near by. To have a look on how I arranged check out the video below.

I  strained for a day arranging everything and had severe vomit which ended up in bleeding. Everyday I had to face something challenging , so keep on reading to know how we managed our days in Germany without being hospitalized. That’s how my pressure for kitchen stuffs were reduced by God’s unlimited surprises.

Its fun to collect unique room decors

A very big hai to everyone who are following my blog posts for a long time. Today let’s collect some unique stuff to make our festive decor unique.

We have been getting ready for advent from last week. If you are new to the blog post have a look on those previous posts. So let’s move on to today’s post. Today’s post is all about our unique advent wreath. In my previous post, I have mentioned the wreath we made with twigs and leaves to welcome our 2016 advent and to go along with the black forest theme of Iniya’s bday celeb.

We had a unique hobby of collecting different types of pine cones, so when he came across the following wreath he grabbed it from the Real super market.

Since the weather was too low I decided to hang this indoor to prevent it from getting damaged. To hang it I had the following hooks. The hooks are multipurpose. I hang a hook and tied the wreath to the hook using metal string. I used to buy the needed items when they are available. If I remember I got these clips during back to school time.

since we were doing our decor from Iniyas birth, we buy stuff which are in sale. This reduces your money being spend on decors. If you watch the video the name iniya arranged as a train was from the African festival which happened on July 2016, and the name Iniya on wall was bought during march 2016. So have a note on the following note for a unique home.

Note:- Do shop for your decor when they are in off or sale.

Plan earlier if you are thinking of a unique decor.

(For us it took around a year to bring out the final result)

Keep on following our post on various topics and now let’s welcome the advent on Dec 2nd 2018.
