Hohenzollern castle

Hohenzollern castle

The first castle which we visited in Germany is the Hohenzollern castle, the ancestral seat of the imperial house of Hohenzollern. We visited the castle during the winter season of 2016, since the castle is located at a height of 234m in Berg Hohenzollern above the town’s of Hechingen and Bisingen we felt more cold than at the foothills. The castle is in the foothills of Swabian Alps of central Baden Wurttemberg Germany. From guided tour we came to know that the castle was initially constructed early in 11th century. The free imperial cities of Swabia destroyed it completely in 1423. As a family memorial the final castle was constructed between 1846 and 1867. The castle holds the English Gothic Architecture and the Chateaux of the Loûre valley which made it a monument of German Romanticism.

The best scene in the castle is the sunset view from the king’s and queen’s room. During sunset the king’s room turns bloody red. Queen’s blue salon has a gilded coffered ceiling, an exquisite marquetry floor and portraits of Prussian queen. From our point of view it’s worth to be visited.
